Special Interest and Work

Since 1974, DR Advani has been involved with Medical Oncology/Hematology along with strong interaction with other clinical branches and basic scientists.

At present, his strong interest is to develop developmental therapeutics with clinical research program. This will have integrated projects involving all the branches of clinical oncology as well as potential basic research. He has also started biological therapeutics targeting various molecular targets on the cancer cells. He has pioneer in establishing Bone Marrow Transplantation set up in India.

He has been involved with about 500 National and International Publications. He has played an important role in establishing D.M. Medical Oncology (Mumbai University) at Tata Memorial Hospital. He has also recognized a M.Sc. and Ph.D. Guide in Applied Biology.

From infancy, now his department has entered into modern Medical and Pediatric Oncology with full infrastructure including Bone Marrow Transplantation, Hematology Laboratory, Flow Cytometer, Cytogenetic and Molecular Laboratory, Day Care Chemotherapy Unit and Patient Counseling Groups. He has been the Chief Investigator for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Project supported by National Cancer Institute, Washington and Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia Project supported by Department of Science and Technology.

Recently he has embarked upon the project of writing syllabus along with teaching manual for DM Medical Oncology Course in association with Indian Medical and Pediatric Oncology Association.

Apart from above, there are various national and international medical projects underwent and in progress under supervision of Dr Advani.

Dr Premshankar Tripathi (M.A Hindi Gold Medalist, P.H.D Calcutta University) is President of one of the Most Trusted and Widely Acclaimed Organisation in the field of Literature ‘Shree Burrabazar Kumarsabha Pustkalay’, Kolkata. Dr Tripathi is a revered authority in Hindi Literature, a Writer, an Author (including in Sunday Edition of one of the leading Hindi Daily Newspaper in Eastern India viz “Sanmarg” and Editor of various publications which amongst other includes Calcutta Times (Weekly) and Amar Aag Hai (collection of poems of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpaye, the Former Prime Minister of India).

Mr Dilip Samadar (Chartered Accountant) is having over 50 years of experience in fiancé, general administration and health care sector in two large American and British Conglomerates. Amongst others, Mr Samadar has worked for over 25 years in providing financial services as President Finance in Peerless Group including for over 7 years as Managing Director of Peerless Hospital & B.K. Roy Research Centre, one of the eminent Hospital in Kolkata.

Ms. Meenakshi Datta Ghosh an independent multidisciplinary, development professional, specializingat the interface of governance, public health and public policy, has addressed diverse aspects of GtoC [Government to Citizen] services, as in policy formulation, program development, implementation, appraisal, and evaluation.

Ms. Ghosh has been a game changer in some very critical areas, during her career, as illustrated in her contribution towards population stabilisation and gender justice, disease prevention and control as in HIV/AIDS, rural and urban local government, and public grievance redressal. Between 1999 and end 2007 She has held the positions of Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Panchayati Raj; Principal Advisor, GoI, Health, Nutrition and Family Welfare; Special Secretary Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Director General, National AIDS Control Organization; and Joint Secretary Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. She is the Principal Author of India’s National Population Policy 2000, and India’s National Action Plan on Blood Safety, 2003. Ms Ghosh has been responsible for formulating, directing, and implementing India’s response to the global HIV/AIDS crisis. She has reversed the then exclusive emphasis on prevention and mitigation, by introducing treatment for HIV/AIDS across India (April, 2004) not attempted till then. Ms. Ghosh was a career bureaucrat in the IAS, 1970 to 2007.

Ms. Ghosh has been Consultant to FAO Bangkok, and UNDP, Manila. She has worked with the ADB, WHO, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNDP, IPPF (international planned parenthood federation), ESCAP, the Ford Foundation, the Clinton Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, focussing on maternal and neo-natal health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods and poverty alleviation.

After graduating from the IAS Ms. Ghosh was appointed Chairman Public Grievances Commission, NCT of Delhi, Country Representative, International Union for Conservation of Nature, and Senior Consultant, Independent Evaluation Office, India [in the Planning Commission]. Since 2016, Ms. Ghosh is engaged in improving corporate discipline in three Statutory Institutes of Company Secretaries, Chartered Accountants and as well Cost Management Accountants, India.

Ms. Ghosh was elected as President, Harvard Club of India (HCI) for 2010-2012. She is currently Member, Executive Committee, HCI, 2019-2021.
